Artist Statement

I started my art career as an Art Therapist, being one of the first to complete training and get my registration in Canada. In my first position, I had the privilege of working with adolescents in an innovative residential treatment centre, running an arts and crafts centre and doing individual and group therapy as part of a multi-disciplinary mental health team. This led me to a position in the English National Health Service, working in both inpatient and outpatient mental health services.

Both of these experiences made me wonder why some people manage recovery after leaving treatment, while others need to return.

My work is an exploration of the connections between people and place, focusing on how self-in-environment can promote self healing and wellbeing.
